WEDNESDAY CAMPFIRE AND CREATIVE KIDS CLUB
spring session 2024
The Campfire & Creative Kids Club is happening on Wednesdays at 4 weekly sessions from May 1st - 22nd.
Come join us for the first four Wednesdays in May, 3-8pm, to experience the magic of Race Brook Lodge. Each session, led by Melanie “Poppins”, will be themed around incorporating elements of nature into our weekly theme craft, and will include programming with music, movement, and storytelling. Stay for dinner with special deals for Kids Club families, and each evening ends with clay exploration and a campfire! All ages welcome, and parent participation is encouraged. Or drop your kids off and grab a table for date night at the Stagecoach Tavern, find a cozy nook around the property to get some work done, or explore our on-site hiking trails!
May 1: Eco Tie-Dye
Learn about what makes something a natural dye and explore using different materials. Tie-dye your own reusable cloth napkin.
May 8: Dream Catchers
Go on a nature scavenger hunt in the Backyard to collect items to weave into a dream catcher.
May 15: Pressed flower Lanterns
Repurpose glass jars by decorating them with flowers found at Race Brook Lodge.
May 22: DIY Recyclable Instruments
Using recyclable goods to make instruments and explore what different sounds they can make.
Schedule:
3-4pm Arrival, yard games, free-drawing
4-5:30pm Weekly theme activity
5:30-6:15pm Dinner
6:15-8pm Clay and Campfire
Melanie Willins, M.Ed (aka Melanie Poppins) is an educator and child development specialist who has been working with children for over 20 years. Melanie recognizes the importance of community-based settings for kids, and enjoys integrating nature, movement, music, and mindfulness practices into family programming.
